What to expect from our Medical Externship Program:
New Life Global Missions offers an invaluable opportunity for midwives and medical professionals to gain international experience and knowledge in various healthcare settings. Our Medical Externships provide training programs in hospitals and clinics in developing nations, where participants can observe and learn from experienced medical staff while developing and updating their skills and practices.
During these externships, participants gain insight into the unique healthcare challenges these countries face while also gaining a deeper understanding of global health issues. We also offer "Come to You" courses that can be arranged for groups of ten or more participants who wish to study together in the same location. With New Life's help, you can make a difference in your own career as well as for those living in underdeveloped regions of the world.

Basic Obstetric Suture

This course is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to be proficient in basic obstetric suturing techniques. Through a mix of didactic instruction and hands-on practice, you will leave equipped to confidently manage common suturing tasks, such as episiotomy repairs and laceration closures. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process, ensuring that you have all the information needed to perform these procedures effectively and safely. With hours of focused practice time, this course is sure to provide you with the confidence and knowledge needed for successful completion of obstetric sutures.

Urinary Catheters

The course provides in-depth training for healthcare professionals on the safe and effective insertion and removal urinary catheters. Through lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practice sessions, students will gain the knowledge and confidence to correctly use urinary catheters. The course covers topics such as anatomy and physiology of the urinary system, indications for catheterization, sterile technique, use of catheter kits, types available and their application in clinical scenarios. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to confidently insert and remove both Foley and straight urinary catheters with a high level of accuracy.

This course offers comprehensive training in the essential practices of IV therapy. Through a combination of didactic instruction and hands-on experience, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively administer IV treatments. During the course, participants will learn about infection control, medication administration, vascular access techniques, troubleshooting tips, and more. On completion of the course, attendees will have a solid understanding of all aspects of IV therapy and feel confident in their ability to successfully perform it with their patients.

Participants learn how to operate an ultrasound machine, interpret results, and understand the indications for obstetric ultrasonography. It is structured around the necessary steps to recognize and address a PPH, with an emphasis on building participants skills. The goal of the course is for participants to gain an understanding of the importance of prompt recognition of a PPH and the appropriate steps to take, as well as how to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in practice. By the end of the course, participants should be prepared and confident in their ability to assess and address a PPH.
